i have everything fitted (like a glove by the way) and in the break in process.all this new engine required from solo was clutch case and clutch/block.

hi dan,

ya its jim cahill is the fella from newcastlewest i know, i also know jim halpin too i made alot of evening calls to his house for bits and bobs, bought my on road truck and car off him a few years back, but the track had been closed down before i got into 5th scale cars, what a pitty the track closed down, think there are houses built on it now:(

coolwe will meet up some sunday for a run with the cars, i would like to try st anns in dublin sometime with the on roads, there is an onroad club up north still running 5th scale on road cars also, its a pitty the 5th scale racing would not take off again but it can be a dear hobbie as you well know, i would think there should be a good few cars thrown in attics and sheds around your area from lad that used to race....

well the reason is because it is the most powerfull engine ever to be available to largescale cars in germany possibly the world and it has lots and loads of hand porting work done, and also blueprinted...

i spoke to some large scale people that race them on tracks in germany and it is aprox 7hpwith tuned pipe, simply this engine is insane....

you get what you pay for.
its going in my fg as the thing weighs a tonne with all the alloy so i need insane power...

im not paying for it its a birthday present. :D

cheers...

LOL

This is what you should have bought

Nitrous engine

Seriously though,
I would send oddie a quick email asking his opinion on that engine you are after.
You dont want anyone spending that sort of dosh on something that you might not be 100% satisfied with.
Then again.
Oddie might be able to offer you something supreme to that one for similar or less money.
he is a very helpful guy even when not buying his stuff ;)

hello lads...

Postby dc2 man on Wed Apr 29, 2009 7:26 pm

hey gsi
yes i think we should all get together some time and make a bit of a day of it or something man why not.

its a pitty 5th scale dwindled away like it did here in ireland, yes i have heard of jim cahil and must meet him sometime to see if he has any bits for sale that might intrest me.

i dont think the 5th scales are so bad to keep running, the most expensive time for me was at the start when i hadnt the "know how" with them and at that time they cost me a bomb....but now with the upgrades my fg is bomb proff.......really is... and the carson the only expence there are tyres i ate through them lol but other than that te carson is a great machine with the right upgrades, good radio gear is a must and after that some upgraded gears and alloy diff/mounts and not a bother.

big scale racing is still big buisness abroad in germany and belgium and some european countries.
would be excellent if some body set up track here somewhere though......would be great.
the place where i run my carson is a huge unused factory car park and is great i use cones and pipe to mak it and works great but im lucky as i know the lad that bought the place to set up his buisness there,it is totally unused and all to myself lol......

as for the fg i just run that in my local football field with the owners concent also.

hello vectra
yes i know of oddified motors and will consider one for my onroad sometime but for now the desicion is final on the cad engine for the fg..

i cant wait to see how it runs.

cheers lads.
